Two New Boats

Firstly a newish Streaker for racing. I had one back up North at Scaling Dam and thought not super speedy they are simple and light weight.

Light wind potter shows the simplicity

The story goes that Jack Holt designed it when the Solo got to heavy for him. I am at the top end of the optimum weight but that will keep me trim and healthy. I have been out a few times, really nice boats and it seams to go well.

The second has a back story. When I first visited Cornwall and went to Saltash and was wandering down by the waterside and came across man recovering a little Grey micro yacht. We chatted and discussed the boat, a Voyager 14, he was a DCA member.  A year later at a South West DCA meeting I was chatting to a guy that had just come to the dinner. It was the same guy. We discussed the boat, see said it would be for sale. I meet him as he was again recovering the boat and I still liked her, she was compact and looked very well renovated. He wasn’t ready to sell her and I wasn’t in a position to buy her. Further meetings at DCA events and I had decided it would be complicated addition to my life.

A few weeks ago I was sitting doing the crossword, having an espresso over looking the Tamar. At that moment a DCA forum email popped up, the Voyager was for sale. In that instant I suddenly had the thought if I put her on a Mooring it would be a great boat to just go out on hassle free sails. The long and the short she is now on my drive while I do a few jobs before launching her.
