No I haven’t become an influencer and people aren’t sending me free stuff.
I noticed a new crack in the cockpit pit floor of the Gull and there are a couple of other areas than needed attention. On a FB group someone said polyester boats should be repaired with polyester not epoxy. This is as they epoxy is too stiff and won’t flex the same as the polyester which sounds logical.

So I needed a small amount of polyester to repair. I have used the Big Boy filler (from Silverhook) and it worked well and as their fibre glass repair kit was cheapest and available at Tool Station why not.
What’s in the box,

Chop Strand Matting (approx. 16″ x 24″) – this was very light weight, I had never seen such light
242 g resin, 20 g hardener, 1x brush, 1x spreader, 1x disposable gloves, mixing stick and pot.
First impression on opening the box was the strong smell of resin. The can had a pull out seal under the lid so the seal to the lid to the can can’t have been great.
Mixing 100 to 3, easy with a little scale I have bit being polyester no big concerns.
The design of the can meant that some resin ended up on the top of the tin. In addition the catalyst, though a generous amount was just an open top so hard to be exact
Use was very straight forward I applied multiple layers with some tape over the top and the peel ply.

I love doing laminating and then removing the peel ply next morning, it had set well, February in a un heated 10 degree garage

Buoyed on did a few more jobs

In addition I’ve added reinforcement for the main anchor tie down, and finished the can.
So overall, yes good, hand size little kit, did exactly what it was supposed to and a lot of little jobs, easy to buy and economical.
